Reviewed March. 2020 A perfect day designed to suit our interests A review of: Highlights of Halifax and Peggy's Cove Tour Two couples: A visit to Peggy's Cove was our main interest. To get there to catch the morning light and visit before the crowds if possible. Les met us on the wharf as soon as we were able to disembark our ship. The van was comfortable, the journey and commentary interesting as we travelled along, and were able to get some good photographs before the tour buses arrived. We had requested a 4 hour trip and after Peggy's Cove visited the striking Swiss Air Monument nearby and back in Halifax were shown around the area above the city, narrated with interesting historical as well as local facts. After the trip with Les we explored the area above the city and the foreshore boardwalk area before our 4.00pm departure. An enjoyable day not too rushed, complete with interesting commentary and great memories of the visit. Our emails enquiries prior to our booking were handled promptly. Reviewed October 8, 2019 Loved our tour with Les We took the 5 hour Peggy's Cove and Titantic tour while in Halifax on a cruise. Les picked us up right across the street from the terminal. Being a life long resident, Les had many interesting facts and stories to share as we rode through town, out to Peggy's Cove and to the Titantic cemetary. I highly recommend Les for your tour of Halifax! BarbF2

Reviewed September 3, 2019 Highly recommend! Les was waiting for four of us as we disembarked the Queen Elizabeth. His van and its sound system were perfect and his knowledge of Halifax was very evident. Because 2 of us had lived in Halifax before, Les was very agreeable to altering his route so we could see some of our "old haunts". We also saw new places and learned a lot about modern day Halifax. We highly recommend Les and Halifax Taxi Tours for your next visit to Halifax. 710love2travel

Reviewed August 2019 Amazing Day Tour from cruise ship Les picked us up at the port while we came in on Holland America's Zuiderdam. We were a party of six that chose to see Mahone Bay and Lunenburg Tour. It was great from the start. Emails before the excursion were handled quickly and efficiently. Les was on time at the port and his vehicle is very comfortable. We saw so many beautiful places and especially enjoyed Lunenburg. It was a great day private touring with Les. Reviewed August 4, 2019 Fantastic tour! I did a lot of research before booking on my visit to Halifax on The Grandeur of the Seas. Les was a great guide and showed us all of the sights. Reviewed July 1, 2019 Great tour of Halifax and Peggy's Cove A group of us from the same organization were in town for a conference in June and we had the Saturday free so why not take in the sights and sounds of Halifax! There was no better person than Les to guide us through Halifax and Peggy's Cove. He knew the city inside out and shared some of the fascinating stories from Halifax's colourful past. It was a great tour, we learned a lot about Halifax and most importantly, we all had fun! 778jimmy

Reviewed June 19, 2019 Mr. Les made it happen! Historic Grand Pre, Nova Scotia--the homeland of the Acadians! As a Louisiana resident & a descendant of the Acadians, I cannot thank Mr. Les enough for providing transportation for me & my family to visit Grand Pre, Nova Scotia. We were able to spend time at the Grand Pre National Historic Site & the site of the deportation cross. This was an experience that I will never forget & Mr. Les deserves a heartfelt Thank You for making it happen. Whatever your request, Mr. Les will get you to your destination. Reviewed June 7, 2019 Awesome Halifax Tour We arrived Halifax by cruise & Les, was waiting @ the port for us. It wasn't the best day for touring. Windy, chilly & raining! We signed up for the "Highlights of Halifax/Peggy's Cove tour for 4 hrs. Les was full of information, great recommends & we made a bunch of photo stops. He made it the best stop on our cruise. Reviewed November 6, 2018 Go with the Best....Les! We were a group of 4 who toured with Les, and it was a really great tour. He was very prompt to meet us and being a Halifax native, shared his love of the city as well as Peggy's Cove and more with us. We enjoyed everything he shared and showed us and all of us would highly recommend this tour. We never felt rushed, yet felt we saw and heard so much about the area on our short visit there. We know we got more from this tour with a small group than we would have with a larger bus group. Don't hesitate to book with Halifax tours. teacher1949

Reviewed November 3, 2018 WONDERFUL TOUR!!!! WE booked Les for a 6 hour tour of Halifax for 3 couples! He was in the first parking spot just off the Regal Princess at 10 am on the dot!! He was so informed and interesting!! He answered all my questions even before I could ask them! Ha Ha! Born and raised in Halifax, he took us to all the highlights of Halifax including the drive to Peggy's Cove! Such a unique fishing village!! The whole Lobster was fabulous and fish and chips worth the cruise to get there!! You will be really lucky to get Les for the day! So reasonably priced too!! Utahkittie

Reviewed October 15, 2018 The only company to go with We booked with Les and he hooked us up with Eric as they work as a team, Eric was fantastic and customized our tour to exactly what I wanted, their prices are great and their knowledge is second to none, You will not be disappointed as Eric enjoys his job, I had changed the plan of what I wanted to do and they accommodated it, I went an hour longer then I prebooked and he wasn't going to charge me for the extra hour, I insisted and paid as I would have paid much more as their service is first class dave k

Reviewed September 30, 2018 Detailed, personal tour We had scheduled Les for months prior to our visit based on reviews and he did not disappoint! We had a rainy, cold day on our port visit but Les was there to provide the best tour. He showed us so much of the history and day to day operations. He personalized the tour as his family homes and final settlement were right there during our tour. We chose not to go out to coastal views such as Peggy Cove due to inclement weather but we were really satisfied with the hours we spent with Les Susan D

Reviewed September 16, 2018 Great Way to See Halifax When You Have Limited Time! If you are looking for a super friendly, super knowledgeable tour of the Halifax area from someone who has been a Halifax resident for nearly all of their life, then you'll enjoy Les's Halifax Taxi Tour. We were very fortunate to be able to book a 5 hour private taxi tour of the Halifax area with Les, and he made every moment count. He arrived early to pick us up and greeted us very personably, and was always a gentleman. We saw so many beautiful sights of interest and were able to capture so many photos of special places throughout Halifax, all because Les was an excellent tour guide and allowed us the time to enjoy the many places where we stopped. Les provided an excellent, informative tour, and we really enjoyed our limited time in Halifax because of the very informative tour. We definitely recommend booking a taxi cab tour with Les for a very personable and memorable tour of the many beautiful Halifax sights! JWiz18

Reviewed September 11, 2018 Tour of Halifax and Peggy’s Cove My wife and I, along with my 90 year old Mom, took a tour we arranged with Eric. Eric is a native of Halifax and gave us a great overview of Halifax. Then he took us on a 45 minute drive out to Peggy'SteveInTexass Cove with several photo stops along the way as well as a visit to a popular shop selling maple goods. Peggy's Cove was really the highlight of our visit and we loved walking around and taking in the scenery. We had lunch at a nearby restaurant and then took a different route back to Halifax with a few stops downtown, including a city view from a high vantage point. Eric was an outstanding and knowledgeable guide and he was really kind to my Mom. It was a lovely day and we were all very pleased with our visit. SteveInTexas

Reviewed August 3, 2018 A wonderful 4 hour tour with Les! We are two couples visiting Halifax as a port stop on our cruise. Considering we have limited time we decided to take a private tour. We chose Halifax Tours based on the excellent reviews in TripAdvisor and it lived up to our expectations. Les is the owner and was our tour guide. He is a local guy, born and raised in Halifax and to say that he is proud of his roots is an understatement. Les is extremely knowledgeable about Halifax from a historical point of view. He also has a very likable personality that makes you want to learn more about him, his family and life in Halifax. The highlight of the tour was our visit to Peggy's Cove which was really beautiful! Overall it was a relaxing, enjoyable and very informative 4 hours about the history and life in Halifax. I strongly recommend this private tour with my 5 Star review! Suggestion: If you are a family of 4 or more or a small group making a port stop on a cruise, you should definitely consider Halifax Taxi Tours instead of using the tours offered by the cruise lines which are usually very large in number and not flexible as to what you may or may not want to do or see. scovotti47

Reviewed August 2, 2018 Great look at Nova Scotia Les took us to all the places we had requested and where they were new to him he had researched the area as well. We really felt we were able to get a feel for the places we wanted to see, some of which were linked to family history. Les added additional things when we expressed an interest in them and that made the day as we learned more about Nova Scotia than we had hoped to. Thanks Les for a wonderful day. Reviewed July 27, 2018 A Leisurely tour with loquacious Les Reviewed , 2018 A Leisurely tour with loquacious Les; A guide with extensive knowledge, a host of anecdotes, proud of his ancestry and proud to share his love of the area. A good companion to my wife and I during our tour. My only advice is that if you take the tour don't try and do Halifax , Peggy's Cove and Luneburg in one bite. Take Halifax, Mahone Bay and Luneburg at a leisurely pace, there is much to see and much to read and investigate on foot as you wander around Luneburg. Leave Peggy's Cove and Prospect for another day. Smell the roses. AuldYinGiffnock

Reviewed July 9, 2018 Excellent tour. Great guide. Reviewed , 2018 We were a group of four Australians on a shore excursion and were lucky enough to book Les from Halifax Taxi Tours. He is a local guide and we found that knows his stuff. We really saw a lot more in his van than if we took a large bus from the ship. From Halifax to Peggys Cove and back again, Les showed us all the spots with cheery informative detail along the way. Five stars to Les. AlanRAussie

Reviewed July 5, 2018 Awesome tour! Our family of four went on the four-hour tour with Les. It was a wonderful experience and we all loved it so much, especially our visit to Peggy's Cove. It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! There were so many beautiful places to see along the way as well. It was really amazing and there were lots of photo opportunities, and we were able to make a few stops to take lots of photos. Les was so nice and very knowledgable. He provided so much information and answered our questions. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Halifax. Very well-worth it! LMnay

Reviewed June 22,, 2018 Five hour tour of Halifax and Peggy's Cove Les picked us up at our hotel and showed us the highlights of the city, giving us history and anecdotes to make it interesting and memorable. We drove out Hwy 333 to Peggy's Cove, where we had time to explore and have coffee. Then around the peninsula and back to town, stopping at the graveyard where Titanic victims are buried. Reviewed June 22, 2018 Halifax in 5 hours We only had a day to see Halifax and get a feel for Nova Scotia. Les was great. Picked us up and drove us to the Port, Pier 22, Cunard, select neighbourhoods, and universities and down to Peggy's Cove and the Swissair memorial. We then went through the titanic graveyard and downtown Halifax to the citadel. All in all Les is knowledgable, pleasant, a good driver and a great way to see the area when you're short of time Larry G

He was kind, knowledgeable, and stopped at many out of the way places that had good photography spots. He also helped us find less crowded restrooms when we needed them. I recommend him highly! Reviewed May 27, 2018 First time Solo traveller I did the Halifax/Peggy's Cove tour with Les. It was a lovely experience. I recommend to all even if it might be a bit more expensive than conventional bus tours. It was wonderful to be able to stop and see points of interests up close, and the van was very comfortable. Les is very nice and knowledgeable. I travelled on May 23rd so it wasn't as busy as it would be in the summer months. Also, as a solo female traveller I felt very comfortable with Les! He is also flexible with the tour so have a chat with him prior. Cheers. A.Cox Toronto
